UCO President’s Concert

To celebrate the inauguration of a new president at the University of Central Oklahoma, the symphony, directed by Alexander Mickelthwate, and a hand-selected few illustrators recreated a famous event called “Mussorgsky Pictures.”

In the original event, the composer’s artist friend died, and he wrote a symphony honoring his life, with each piece representing a specific work of art his friend had created. He then directed the symphony in the same venue where each art piece hung. The concept for our version was to do the opposite: we illustrated and animated based on the music instead, and projected the results live behind the symphony as they played.
